Ballet Light Paint

For the past four years, we have been honored to be a part of the dance family at Catherine’s Dance Studio in Parkville.  Every year, we capture their beautiful little dancers in their recital finery for their winter and spring performances.  It’s been so wonderful to watch these young ladies grow and polish their dancing techniques.

Earlier this year, Catherine’s Dance Studio finally reached the point of No More Room.  Luckily, they found a beautiful spot just a few doors from where they were with two large dance studios, a locker room area and a reception area.  Perfect for their growing needs!  We spent an afternoon creating art pieces with their dancers for decorating their reception room.  One special project was a dance light paint to greet dancers as they walk in.

To build the light paint piece, we used outfits that Catherine had used in her dance performances, as well as a pair of her toe shoes.  Watch the short video to see the image being built with all the different layers of light we used.

Here’s the finished art piece:

And here are images of their new space right after installation:

This is the fun part…seeing how their dance studio has grown!  Each framed piece showcases the classes of that year’s recital.

We wish Catherine’s Dance Studio the very best in their new space!
